Parametric Cost Optimization of Solar Systems with Seasonal Thermal Energy Storage for Buildings

In combination with seasonal thermal energy storage (STES), solar offers a vast potential for decarbonizing the residential heat supply. this work, parametric optimization is conducted to assess of reducing costs water-based STES through use alternative insulation materials and integration an underground outside building. The investigated configurations include: hot-water tank, collector installation, multifamily building fraction 100%. either integrated inside or buried in its direct vicinity. A simulation-based analysis shows that if tank existing (as part retrofitting action) – where are primarily driven by loss living space vacuum-insulation panels can lead significant savings cost advantage compared conventional glass wool. Nevertheless, more expensive option external due high associated internal modification space. Despite excavation increased losses, concept burying promising allow large-volume systems new buildings.
